New Lenox Approves Silver Cross Neonatal ICU Addition
Silver Cross Hospital has been approved for a 4-story addition to the main hospital.
NEW LENOX, IL — At its Oct. 14 meeting, the New Lenox village board approved a site plan amendment for a 4-story addition to Silver Cross Hospital.
In April, the board had approved an amendment to the site plan for the hospital to allow for a 2-story addition to the main hospital near the emergency room area. According to the village, before the hospital could start that project, they realized it wasn't big enough and they are now proposing a 4-story addition.
The village said two stories would be associated with the cardiovascular unit, and one story would be a neonatal intensive care unit. The fourth floor would be for mechanical equipment.

A representative from Silver Cross Hospital said the hospital is the 10th highest delivery hospital in the state. The hospital is the only one in the top 10 which does not have a neonatal intensive care unit.
The board unanimously approved the site plan amendment.
