New Lenox Baseball Association to Honor Fallen Youth Ballplayer
The Chase Niemeier Memorial Tournament will be held this weekend at the Tyler/Bentley complex.

The New Lenox Baseball Association is hosting its annual all-star tournament this weekend. The tournament has been renamed the Chase Niemeier Memorial Tournament. Last July, 11-year-old Chase Niemier died in a tragic accident at this family’s home in New Lenox. He was active in football and baseball.
In memory of Neimeier, a ceremony will be held at approximately 10:30-10:45 a.m. Saturday at Field No. 9 at the Tyler/Bentley complex, located behind the schools at 513 E. Illinois Hwy., New Lenox. Family and friends will share a few words and the first pitch will be thrown out by Chase’s younger brother, Reese, for the 11 a.m. ballgame.
