New Lenox Cops Collar 4 Chicago Men in the Middle of Stealing From Cell Phone Store: Police

The Chicago men were foiled in their bid to rip off the New Lenox Verizon store, police said.

The New Lenox cops thwarted four Chicago men as they were in the middle of ripping off the East Lincoln Highway Verizon store Thursday night, police said.

Larry Adams, 24, Dionte Charles, 25, Marko Cowens, 19, and Richard Petties, 23, all were charged with burglary and retail theft in connection with the alleged caper. Cowens, who also reportedly uses the name “Calvin Ramone,” was hit with an additional charge of aggravated battery for allegedly striking a New Lenox police officer during his arrest.

A New Lenox officer headed over to check on the Verizon store after he “learned that subjects were acting suspicious at a neighboring cell phone store,” police said.

“The officer observed a vehicle and several subjects matching the description provided from the neighboring store,” police said, and watched as they ran “out of the store with electronics in their hands.”

“The officer attempted to stop the subjects but they fled dropping several of the electronics,” police said.
