New Lenox Couple Suing John Deere Co. After Child Run Over By Lawnmower

The boy's grandfather was driving the lawnmower, the lawsuit said.

The parents of a child allegedly run over by a riding lawnmower are suing the John Deere company.

Kevin and Carrie Wills, parents of 3-year-old Owen Wills, filed the lawsuit against Deere & Company in Will County court.

Owen’s grandfather, Tom Wills, was driving the lawn tractor when the boy was injured in October 2013, the lawsuit said.

Tom Wills did not know Owen Wills was playing in the back yard of his Ryan Drive home, the suit said, and Owen was “backed over by a lawn tractor being used to mow in reverse.”

The lawsuit does not specify the injuries allegedly suffered by Owen but does say Deere & Company employees were aware “the John Deere Lawn Tractor was capable of amputating hands and feet and causing other serious injuries,” and “the rotating blades of said John Deere Lawn Tractor could cut off arms and legs.”
