New Lenox District 122 Budgets $1.9 Million for Summer Construction

New Lenox District 122 schools will receive repairs and upgrades this summer budgeted to cost the district more than a million dollars.

The board Wednesday OKed $1.2 million in improvements, bringing the total to $1.9 million.

Planned improvements include new floors at Tyler Elementary School, new carpeting at Nelson Prairie Elementary School, plumbing repairs at Oster-Oakview Intermediate School and sidewalk and curb repairs and maintenance throughout the district, Daily Southtown reports.

The total is $700,000 more than funds the district has spent annually on building improvements during the past six years, according to the report. The board has an opportunity to cut costs, with the hope that estimates for a new playground at Cherry Hill will come in at $167,000. The playground is on the board’s agenda for its April meeting.
