New Lenox District 122 Lays Off 9 Cafeteria Workers
The board approved the latest personnel decision at its meeting Thursday.

As its latest cost-saving measure, the New Lenox School District 122 Board of Educated voted Thursday to lay off nine part-time cafeteria workers.
The layoffs, in addition to another cafeteria worker who quit, are expected to save the district $60,000 in the coming school year, a portion of $2.3 million in cuts, Daily Southtown reports.
Other recent staffing decisions included layoffs of two junior high teachers and elimination of 13 other positions, including four teachers aides and four reading specialists. The board has also delayed the creation of a human resources department, and voted against replacing the associate superintendent.
