New Lenox Fire District Chief Resigns

New Lenox Fire Protection District Chief Jon Mead stepped down from his role Friday, Sun-Times Media reports.

The district’s attorney Tom Gilbert called the resignation a “parting of the ways,” according to the report. Battalion Chief Adam Riegel will serve as acting chief.

“He was well-liked. He did a good job for the district. He came to the district at a time when we were in disarray,” Gilbert told Sun-Times reporters.

“The district is running smoothly,” Gilbert said. “Everything is intact.”
