New Lenox Group to Host Workshop on Concussions in Youth Sports

Learn the signs, treatments, and how to handle concussions in youth sports.

The New Lenox Safe Communities America Coalition and its Youth Sports, Health, & Safety Task Group is hosting a free workshop on Wednesday Feb. 11 at 7 p.m., in the Community Room at the New Lenox Village Hall, 1 Veterans Parkway. The workshop is called “Understanding Concussions in Youth Sports… What You Need to Know.”

The workshop will cover:

  • What is a concussion? Why are youth athletes more susceptible?
  • What are the steps to follow if you suspect an athlete has experienced a head injury?
  • Diagnosis/Treatment
  • Symptoms
  • Establishing strong concussion policies and procedures for your organization and school
  • Return to Play Programs
  • Baseline Concussion Testing
