NEW LENOX, IL — Severe Weather Spotter training as well as a Health and Safety Expo will be held at Lincoln-Way West High School on Tuesday, April 30. The village of New Lenox and its Safe Communities America Coalition, the National Weather Service Chicago office, Will County Emergency Management Agency and Lincoln-Way District 210 have partnered for the event. The health and safety expo will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., following by training from 7 to 8:30 p.m., according to the village.

The village said there will be about 50 organizations from health, safety, fitness, preparedness and emergency response industries at the expo. Attendees will have the opportunity to receive free literature, giveaways, and health screenings while visiting the tables.

The free spotter training provides information on what to look for during severe weather season. The village said attendees will learn about: thunderstorms; facts and myths about severe weather hazards that impact the area; advisories, watches, and warnings; how and where weather spotters can report information from the safety of their homes; and steps that can be taken to prepare for severe weather.
