New Lenox residents might notice increased police presence and K9 officers deployed in various places this week. It's a training exercise.

NEW LENOX, IL — Activity with K9 police officers in New Lenox Wednesday morning through Friday afternoon is only training, the police department said.

Beginning at 11 a.m. Wednesday, residents may notice a police K9 presence in various parts of New Lenox.

The activity, police said, is part of a scheduled training class designed to ensure the department's K9 officer, along with surrounding K9 agencies, is well prepared to respond to real life situations, the New Lenox Police Department said.
