New Lenox Man Caught Doing 113 MPH In 55 MPH Zone: Cops
Ballard didn't stop for a traffic stop and then was clocked going 113 mph in a 55 mph zone on Manhattan Road.

NEW LENOX, IL — A New Lenox man has been charged after fleeing from police and speeding 113 mph in a 55 mph zone, Elwood Police said. Kyle Ballard, 25, of the 2100 block of Sanford Avenue, was charged with reckless driving, no registration light, improper lane use, improper passing, no headlight/tail light/side light, speeding 35 mph+ over the limit, driving on a suspended license and aggravated fleeing from police.
An Elwood officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop at 10:52 p.m. May 9 on a vehicle turning northbound on Route 53 from Mississippi, police said. The car was a white Acura and had no lights on its license plate.
According to police, when the traffic stop was attempted, Ballard made a U-turn and went southbound on Route 53 and then eastbound on Manhattan Road. He didn't stop and was clocked going 113 mph in a 55 mph zone on Manhattan Road and also cut in front of another vehicle. At this point, the officer stopped pursuing the car for safety reasons.

The officer advised the Will County Sheriff's Office, Manhattan Police and New Lenox Police to be on the lookout. At 11 p.m., New Lenox Police found the car still running in a driveway in the 2100 block of Sanford Avenue. Ballard was in the driver's seat, police said.
According to police, Ballard denied fleeing the police, but he was arrested and taken to Will County Adult Detention Facility. The car was towed.

Bail has been set at $1,500 and as of May 13, Ballard has not been released from jail. His next court date is May 17. Ballard also had a previous charge of driving on a suspended license in 2016.
