New Lenox/Manhattan Lockdown Hair Contest

Submit your lockdown hair photo for this Facebook contest

Deciding to turn lemons into lemonade, or at least trying to make the best of a tough situation, Kevin Molloy and Jan Ulrich have launched the New Lenox/Manhattan Lockdown Hair Contest. Between now and May 27, you are invited to post a photo of your lockdown hair on the New Lenox/Manhattan Lockdown Hair Contest Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/582046485768189/

Categories include “Best Mullet” for the men, the ladies, “Longest Roots”, Open categories of “Best 80s Workout Look”, “Tallest Hair”, “Wildest Hair” and Best Presentation”. Prizes donated by local businesses will be awarded to the winners.

The idea for the contest came out of a Facebook post regarding some really bad hair in desperate need of some major cutting due to the Covid-19 lockdown. Two weeks and 36 small businesses later, the New Lenox/Manhattan Lockdown Hair Contest is launched.

Jan Ulrich, the co-founder of the event and creator of the Facebook page for New Lenox/Manhattan Lockdown Hair contest, and Kevin Molloy the other co-founder of the event, began to reach out to people they knew and asked for their support with a small prize to be awarded for the “best guy and lady” photo in one of six categories.

Ulrich stated “there is likely not one among us that can’t wait to get in to see our hair person. “We all need our hair person so why not have some fun with this. Pick a category and submit a photo and the judges will announce their choices in early June, for many that will make ten weeks between cuts and coloring, why not have some fun with it in between.”

For Molloy, it was about keeping small businesses, local businesses on the front part of people’s brain. “We all talk in terms of buying American moving forward and that of course is great BUT what this might help people understand is that buying locally is as important as buying American. These are the local businesses that literally survive through your support and in almost 100% of the cases hire within the community”

To get involved, step one is to “Like” the New Lenox/Manhattan Lockdown Hair Contest Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/582046485768189/.
