New Lenox Park District Awarded $400K Grant For Park
The park will have fitness challenge courses, accessible creative play areas and a large shelter.
NEW LENOX, IL — The New Lenox Community Park District has been awarded a $400,000 grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources Open Space Land Acquisition and Development program. The park district said the grant is for the development of Sky Harbor Park off of Alta Vista Drive.
The park district said the park will have two fitness challenge courses, one for ages 5-12 and one for teens and adults. There will also be an accessible creative play area for kids ages 2-5 and ages 5-12.
Sky Harbor Park will also feature a large shelter for picnicking or park rentals. The park district said there will also be bocce and bags areas. The park should start construction in spring 2021.
