New Lenox Police 'Cops Care' Slated For Saturday

The police will take children on a shopping spree before a parade and pizza party.

From the New Lenox Police Department:

On Saturday the New Lenox Police Department will participate in another “Cops Care” event.

Officers and cadets from the police department along with volunteers will take part in the third annual “Shop with a Cop” event. The Shop with a Cop program involves law enforcement officers and volunteers donating their time to take a group of children on a Christmas shopping spree. The children are selected by referrals from different social service agencies in the community. The officers will be spending a fun filled morning shopping with over forty children ranging in ages from six to thirteen.

After shopping with the officers, at approximately 11:00 a.m., the children will return to the police department to have pizza, cupcakes and wrap their Christmas gifts.

This is a wonderful experience for all of us. It gives us the opportunity to help several children have a brighter Christmas and also a chance for the kids to spend some positive time with the police officers.
