New Lenox Police Department Hires 2 New Officers

The new hires bring New Lenox to approximately 40 full-time sworn officers.

NEW LENOX, IL - The New Lenox Police Department is bringing in the New Year with a couple more new faces. The village has hired Matthew Shanahan and Maloree Johnson as new patrol officers in the fast-growing Will County village of around 28,000. Shanahan has prior police experience. The 27-year-old Naperville resident most recently spent the past three years as a full-time officer with the Burbank Police Department. Before that, Shanahan worked as a part-time officer at the Thornton Police Department. Shanahan has a bachelor's in law enforcement and justice administration from Western Illinois University in Macomb.

As for Maloree Johnson, she is 24 years old and lives in Evergreen Park. She graduated from the police academy in December and she obtained her bachelor's degree as well as a master's in business administration from St. Xavier University.

"Ofc. Shanahan and Ofc. Johnson are both currently in our field training program. The New Lenox Police Department is excited to have them join our team," the police department announced.
