New Lenox Police Host Shop With Cop Saturday At Walmart
The event will take place on Saturday morning and will also include a parade.

NEW LENOX, IL - If you see lots of New Lenox police cars converged upon the New Lenox Walmart on Saturday, don't be alarmed. The police will be here for a good cause. The New Lenox Police Department will participate in the sixth annual “Shop with a Cop” event. According to a press release issued by the New Lenox Police Department, the children were selected by referrals from social service agencies in the community. More than 50 children ages six to 13 years old plan to go shopping with New Lenox police on Saturday.
"Each child is provided a gift card to be used to purchase Christmas gifts for their families at the New Lenox Walmart. The gift cards are purchased through donations from New Lenox Police Officers, Walmart and the Morning Star Mission. At 10 a.m. there will be a parade will be led by the police department to the New Lenox
Walmart where the children will shop. After shopping with the officers, at approximately 11:30 a.m, the children will return to the police department to have pizza, cupcakes and wrap their Christmas gifts.
"This is a wonderful experience for all of us. It gives us the opportunity to help several children have a brighter Christmas and also a chance for the kids to spend some positive time with the police officers. Anyone wishing to attend is invited," the New Lenox Police Department news release stated.
