New Lenox Resident Loses $1,000 To TikTok Scammer: NLPD
The incident was reported April 24, police said.
NEW LENOX, IL — A New Lenox resident lost $1,000 in an exchange with a woman they'd met on social media app TikTok, according to police reports.
Police were called April 24 to the 1800 block of Talon Drive, for a deceptive practices complaint.
The resident told police that they had met a woman through TikTok. The woman, they said, had requested money via Apple gift cards and a bitcoin cash app.

The victim sent the woman $1,000, according to police reports.
Police told the victim to cut off contact with the woman.
