New Lenox Seeks To Brighten Holidays For Those In Need With 'Adopt-A-Family' Program
The Adopt-A-Family program is in its third year in New Lenox, and pairs sponsor families with others in need.
NEW LENOX, IL — The Village of New Lenox is again offering its Adopt-A-Family program in an effort to brighten the holidays for local families in need.
In its third year, the program has seen 89 local families adopted, more than $6,000 in donated giftcards and 195 sponsorship applications from community members, the Village said.
"Over the past two holiday seasons, the generosity and compassion of our community have been nothing short of inspiring!" the Village said. "These numbers are a wonderful reminder of just how special our community is and the incredible difference we can make when we come together!"

"By becoming a sponsor, you'll have the opportunity to bring a little extra joy, comfort, and holiday magic to a family who may otherwise struggle to make the season special," the Village said. "Whether you're a returning sponsor or considering participating for the first time, your generosity can make a meaningful difference!"
For those who would love to contribute but aren't able to sponsor an entire family, gift card donations are always welcome and greatly appreciated, the Village said. These donations allow the Village to provide additional assistance to families for groceries, household essentials, and other necessities during the holiday season.
Local families experiencing financial assistance are invited to apply for the program, and others can nominate such families, as well.
The deadline for "Family Support" applications is Nov. 13.
All applications are available online only.
