Sewage Plant Meeting Tonight At L-W West Auditorium
Royal Meadows subdivision has voiced strong opposition to New Lenox's proposed treatment center.

NEW LENOX, IL - Since January, a number of homeowners around the Royal Meadows subdivision off Delaney Road have come out of their slumber. They have been outspoken in voicing about their disgust with the village of New Lenox. The reason? They don't want their village's leaders to forge ahead with plans to build a new 5.5 million gallon regional sewer treatment plant anywhere near their property.
Although the proposed site is a good distance from their homes, the residents are not satisfied. They want no part of New Lenox's important public works project designed to serve the fast-growing Will County community's needs for decades to come.
On Friday, New Lenox Mayor Tim Baldermann announced that the village's public information meeting to discuss the controversial project is being moved to the Lincoln-Way West auditorium. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. on Monday, March 5.

According to Baldermann, the following topics will be discussed at the village board meeting which could draw an audience in the hundreds:
- The original plan to expand the Jackson Branch site
- The proposed site, approximately 1,700 feet southwest of the current plant in Jackson Branch
- All other sites explored, ruled out and reasons why
- Any other sites that might be viable for New Lenox.
"No matter what decision the board makes," Baldermann posted on Facebook Friday, "there will be an impact one way or another to ALL residents. I can tell you now that the least expensive option is expanding plant 2, then the proposed site, followed by another site that may exist.
