NEW LENOX, IL — Lincoln-Way West triplets recently scored a combined score of 106 on the ACT, Lincoln-Way District 210 said. Alayna, Madeline and Corina McDermott, who are all juniors at West, are considered to be in the top 1 percent of ACT test takers in the country.

Two of the sisters scored 35, while one of the sisters scored a perfect 36, the district said. As the three begin to look at colleges, Alayna and Madeline are pursuing engineering programs while Corina wants to study psychiatry.

The district said about two million students take the college entrance exam each year. Around one-tenth of 1 percent of students who take the ACT earn a top score of 36. Lincoln-Way West will recognize all students who scored a 36 on the ACT at their fall assembly.
