New Lenox Warehouse Fire Fully Extinguished 6 Days After Blaze
One of the buildings was a complete loss, while the other building suffered heavy damage.
NEW LENOX, IL — The fire that occurred Aug. 3 on Amherst Court has been fully extinguished, the New Lenox Fire Protection District said on Friday. The fire, which started Saturday and could be seen from several miles away, happened at MPG Industries, 20604 Amherst Court.
The fire department said one of the buildings was a complete loss, while the other building has been heavily damaged. The fire remains under investigation by the Illinois Office of the State Fire Marshal. The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. EPA are also currently on the scene stabilizing and evaluating the site.
Both directions of I-80 were closed due to the fire when it first happened on Aug. 3.
