New Lenox Woman Jailed For Panhandling In Joliet
The New Lenox woman was a no-show in court, prompting a bench warrant for her arrest.

NEW LENOX, IL - A 40-year-old New Lenox resident who is no stranger to the Will County Jail found herself back in custody on Friday. The New Lenox Police Department took April Santoro into custody around 2:30 a.m. She has been charged with the misdemeanor offense of being a pedestrian soliciting money on a highway in the city of Joliet. According to jail logs, Santoro resides in the 200 block of Willow Lane. She is accused of committing the panhandling offense back on Oct. 15.
According to Will County, Santoro's bond was set at $2,500. By supper time, she came up with the necessary $250 to regain her freedom while her criminal charge is pending at the Will County Courthouse. Santoro was previously booked into Will County in 2011, 2012 and 2013, jail logs show. Several of her previous arrests were out of Joliet including multiple arrests for domestic battery charges and for committing a felony retail theft at the Joliet Menard's store, court records show.
