NEW LENOX, IL — Local resident Mauverneen Blevins has just published her first book, a children's book titled "I KNOW That Bird!" A writer and award-winning photographer, she decided to blend her two creative passions into a picture book for young children with the aim of not just teaching them the names of various birds, but also to encourage reading.

The inspiration for the book came from her own love of birds. With photos of 15 of the most common birds one might find in the backyard or on a trip to the park, a short verse accompanies each one in this colorful introduction to birds.

A lifetime resident of the area, she grew up in Joliet and now resides in New Lenox. She is the mother of three adult daughters.
