New Lenox Woman Tried to Run Over Angry Homeless People: Police

The homeless people got angry at her when she tried to give one of them a place to stay for the night, police said.

A New Lenox woman tried running down angry homeless people with her car, police said.

Jillian Kallenbach, 30, failed to hit any of the homeless people but was still charged with four counts of assault, police said.

Kallenbach had offered to put one of the homeless people up in a hotel for the night but three of his friends—two homeless men and a homeless woman—grew furious at the idea of being split up, police said.

“He’s part of our family,” the two men and the woman told Kallenback about the homeless man she was hoping to help, according to police, and they did not want their “family” fractured.

Kallenbach reportedly met with the homeless man she wanted to help in a parking lot near the junction of Route 30 and Interstate 55. Police said the area is frequented by homeless people.
