New Lenox's Fireworks Show Is Almost Here
New Lenox was one of several suburban communities that had its July 4th fireworks show rained out.

NEW LENOX, IL - Nearly two months after its Fourth of July fireworks show was rained out, village officials are ready to try again. Around 8:30 p.m. this Friday, New Lenox will have its rescheduled Fourth of July fireworks event. The show takes place after the Fridays After Five event at the Village Commons.
Starting at 5:30 p.m., there will be food trucks, live music acts and then come the fireworks, which will be launched around 8:30 p.m., Mayor Tim Baldermann told Patch on Tuesday.
Baldermann said he certainly encourages people who live outside New Lenox to visit the community for Fridays After Five and then stay for the fireworks show.

There is no cost to attend the fireworks event. "It's a great way to wrap up the end of summer," he said.
Ordinarily, the Fourth of July fireworks show draws as many as 8,000 to 9,000 spectators in the area. The mayor believes there will still be a decent crowd on Friday night, even though the fireworks are being launched on Aug. 31, several weeks after the celebration of America's Independence Day.
