New Lenox Favorite 'Empty Bowls' Back, More Fall Fun At Newly Renamed 'Fallapalooza'

NEW LENOX, IL — New Lenox favorite Last Call Before Fall gets a revamp and a name change this year, but keeps one of its favorite features.

Fallapalooza, set for Saturday, Oct. 10, will include Empty Bowls, a community soup fundraiser benefiting the local food pantry organized by the Friends of the New Lenox Park District, along with seasonal activities, entertainment, and "plenty of opportunities to embrace everything we love about fall," the Village said.

Fallapalooza will be held Saturday, Oct. 10 from noon to 4 p.m. at the New Lenox Village Commons. Admission to the event itself is free, but participation in Empty Bowls costs a $20 donation, limited to the first 350 customers.

The donation buys each participant a hand-painted bowl created by New Lenox High School students, and tastings of a variety of soups generously donated by local restaurants. Proceeds benefit the New Lenox Township Food Pantry.

"It’s a simple bowl with a big purpose," the park district said. "Come hungry, find your favorite soup, choose your bowl, and help make a difference right here in our community."
