No Armed Robbery At Burger King In New Lenox Sunday: Police
Police clarified they were called for a report of a road rage incident in which a gun was mentioned but not seen or displayed.
NEW LENOX, IL — Social media and scanner reports of an armed robbery at Burger King in New Lenox Sunday are false, police said.
The reports circulating Sunday follow an actual armed robbery at a Verizon store in New Lenox Saturday morning. Several suspects in that incident were in custody within hours.
Sunday's armed robbery rumors apparently originated from police response to what was actually a road rage incident, police said.

In that incident, one of the parties involved "made a statement" about a firearm, but no gun was seen or displayed.
"There is information on social media stating there was an armed robbery at Burger King in New Lenox," police said. "These rumors are not true. New Lenox Police responded to a road rage incident in the area where one of the parties made a statement about a firearm. No firearms were seen or displayed during the incident.

"The reporting of that incident was delayed, and the party that allegedly made the statement was no longer on scene when officers arrived."
The incident is still under investigation, police said, adding that at no time was there an armed robbery or any other threat to the community.
