God’s Light Exposes All
21 ‘For his eyes are upon the ways of mortals,
and he sees all their steps.
22 There is no gloom or deep darkness
where evildoers may hide themselves. ~ Job 34:21-22
From the window above and across the narrow drive in back of the church, the early morning light often reveals a spider strand sparkling in sunlight here and there when the leaves part enough to allow the sun to shed its light on them. If I were to just wander down through the path to the little stream bed within, I would more than likely not notice the spider’s silvery strands until they were already clinging to me with their stickiness that helps the spider catch its prey.
Sin is a lot like a spider strand. We don’t always notice it until it has “clung” to us - trapping us like Satan’s prey. We remain trapped in this stickiness of sin until being able to wipe ourselves clean through repentant prayer when God’s light has revealed to us what we have “sticking to us.”
Let us be more aware of what we are “walking into” each day. Try to see the “spider strands” of sin for what they are BEFORE walking into them. Perhaps, if we are more vigilant to our surroundings, we will be less likely to get ourselves into the “sticky situations” that Satan has lying in waitto trap us with.
Prayer
Dear Lord,
Always have Your Light shining brightly for us to see the sinful traps that lie in wait for us to get stuck in. Help us to be able to “walk around” and avoid these things so that our path is always a clear, clean walk toward You. Amen.
