'Once In A Lifetime' New Lenox July 4 Celebration: 'Eye Of The Tiger' Rocker To Perform, Mural Unveiling Set

Free rock concert, fireworks, debut of public art project mark July 4 and nation's 250th birthday.

NEW LENOX, IL — The Village of New Lenox will host its annual Independence Day Celebration on Saturday, July 4, at the New Lenox Village Commons, beginning at 6 p.m.

This year's event takes on special significance as the nation marks the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence — a milestone the Village will celebrate with expanded programming, patriotic tributes, and a night of entertainment for the entire community.

The evening will feature a free performance by The Ides of March featuring Jim Peterik, the celebrated songwriter behind "Eye of the Tiger." The performance begins at 8 p.m. and will be followed by a fireworks display at approximately 9:20 p.m.

"This is a once-in-a-lifetime celebration," said Mayor Tim Baldermann "For America's 250th birthday, New Lenox is pulling out all the stops. We're proud to bring our community together for a night of music, fireworks, and deep gratitude for the freedom we enjoy."

6 to 7 p.m.: Joliet American Legion Band: Patriotic performance from the New Lenox Performing Arts Pavilion to open the evening.

8 to 9:20 p.m.: The Ides of March featuring Jim Peterik: Free headline, legendary rock concert open to all attendees.

Approximately at 9:20 p.m.: Fireworks Display

ADDITIONAL HIGHLIGHTS

  • Veterans Tribute Signs: Commemorative signs featuring photos and words of wisdom from local veterans will be displayed throughout the New Lenox Village Commons.
  • Community Art Project: The Village, in partnership with local artists, will unveil a community art project created for this year's celebration.
  • Kids Crafts: Free patriotic craft tables will be available throughout the evening for children of all ages.
