One Man Nabbed, Another Identified in String of Residential Burglaries

New Lenox detectives reportedly watched as one of the suspects pawned some of the stolen items.

NEW LENOX, IL — New Lenox Police have arrested one man and are seeking a warrant for another in connection with a string of residential burglaries that took place March 4–11.

Robert Moore, 59, of 4940 N. Winthrop in Chicago, was arrested Friday and a second suspect was identified after police surveilled a pawn shop where the two reportedly sold off some of the objects that they had stolen, police said in a release March 28.

The burglaries occurred in the 200 block of E. Fourth Ave, 400 Block of S. Pine and 500 block of S. Cedar. New Lenox Police detectives were able to develop a suspect by matching past calls of suspicious persons with individuals who pawned goods similar to that which were stolen.

In particular, Musto pawned a 1963 Concordia class ring, which had been reported stolen in one on the burglaries.

Detectives conducted a photo line-up with witnesses and Musto was identified as the subject that was involved in a crash involving the vehicle that was stolen during one of the burglaries. Detectives observed Musto at the pawn shop pawning goods. Detectives took Musto into custody and discovered he was in possession of several items stolen from the burglaries. Musto was transported to the New Lenox Police Station and eventually was transported to Silver Cross Hospital where he was admitted for a medical condition unrelated to his arrest.
