One Per Day

On my desk I have a little sign that reads, “I can only please one person per day…Today is not your day.  Tomorrow is not looking good either.”  I have to chuckle at that sign, because I really don’t abide by that credo.  Or do I?  If I change the word “person” to “entity,” perhaps I am living by that motto.   

If I live to please only one “entity,” that would be to please God.  By pleasing God, I am doing what God asks of me – to live more and more like Christ.  True, I am not out to “please” others by giving them everything they want, but I am here to serve others in the name of the Lord.  I give of my time, talents and Christian love.   

Therefore, it looks as though I may be living by the little credo on my desk after all.  By putting God first, I may also please others through the service I do in His name.  There is always more I can do to please Him each day.  I just have to look to Christ for my example to follow.

Heavenly Father,

May I always put Your wishes before my own so that my life may be a pleasing sacrifice to You.  Amen.
