Online Fundraiser Started for Family of Manhattan Man Killed in Crash

Dan Osysko died Sunday, May 3 after his car careened off the road in Manhattan Township.

Friends of a Manhattan man killed last weekend in a rollover crash have started an online fundraiser in support of his family.

Dan Osysko, 26, died after his car rolled over off U.S. 52 in Manhattan Township.

“Time after time Dan’s mom has been there for us,” wrote the organizer. “Whether it was giving us kids a place to hang out or the endless meals she would cook for us. She was always there for us. It’s our turn now to show Mrs. O our love, support and appreciation for everything she has given us over the years.”

Osysko was a familiar face to many in New Lenox, friends said.

“If you shopped at New Lenox Jewel in at least the last 7 years, bets are Dan has helped you out more than once,” wrote one friend on New Lenox Patch’s Facebook page.

Funds raised through the page will be used to help offset funeral costs. T-shirts in support of the family are also available for purchase.

The accident occurred at the s-shaped intersection of US 52 and Cedar Road known as “Dead Man’s Curve.” At least three deaths have been reported there between December 2013 and February 2014.

The accident is still under investigation.
