Outdoor Flea Market Planned In New Lenox
The 42nd annual Old Campground Antiques, Collectibles, Flea Market and Craft Avenue is hosted by United Methodist Church of New Lenox.
NEW LENOX, IL — The United Methodist Church of New Lenox will welcome visitors to the 42nd annual Old Campground Antiques, Collectibles, Flea Market and Craft Avenue from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 18 at the church, 339 W. Haven Ave. in New Lenox.
The outdoor event, which is free to attend, will have approximately 75-100 booths available with a wide range of items for sale.
"We've got antiques, books, collectibles," said Wendy Miller, business manager for United Methodist Church of New Lenox. "We've got household items that are gently used. We've got furniture that people have donated to Grandpa's Attic that you can get at a very reasonable cost if you're trying to set up housekeeping, especially for the first time. ... You name it, you can probably find it."

Grandpa's Attic is run by members of the church who collect furniture donations and refurbish the items for sale.
Crafts and jewelry are also on the list of items to be sold at the market, Miller added.

"Oh, and kettle corn," Miller said. "We always have a kettle corn vendor who shows up. If you get nothing else, you got to at least get your kettle corn."
Prepackaged snacks will also be available for sale at the market.
The proceeds from the sale all go toward supporting church programs and ministries, including New Lenox Food Pantry and Ridgewood United Food Pantry in Joliet, MorningStar Mission in Joliet, Midwest Mission Distribution Center in Pawnee, and school supply collections for local schools, among other charity-based programs, Miller said.
Because the event is outdoors, masks are not required but those who wish to wear one may do so, Miller said.
A rain date has been scheduled from 1-5 p.m. Sept. 19 in the event of poor weather.
