Pedestrian Hit By Car Recovering Slowly: Police
The New Lenox collision occurred Monday night near Joliet Highway and Schoolhouse Road.

NEW LENOX, IL - New Lenox Police Chief Bob Sterba said that the man who was hit by a car on Monday night while walking his dog did not suffer life-threatening injuries. Nonetheless, the man likely faces a long road of recovery. On Tuesday morning, Sterba told New Lenox Patch the man's injuries "are more serious than initially thought." At this point, the collision still remains under investigation, the chief said.
The injured man is recovering at Silver Cross Hospital, the chief.
The crash happened just before 8 p.m. in New Lenox near Joliet Highway and Schoolhouse Road. A witness said a female driver was heading north on Schoolhouse Road and turning west onto Joliet Highway when she struck a male pedestrian, who was seen walking his dog at the time.

Sterba said that the driver was making a left hand turn at the time of the crash.
