Phishing Scam Returns to Lincoln-Way
Local businesses are being solicited with phony school sponsorship opportunities, school official says.

NEW LENOX, IL - An email phishing scam involving Lincoln-Way school spirit gear and a sports clothing company out of North Carolina has returned to the area, according to a school official.
Lincoln-Way businesses have received emails recently from individuals claiming to offer sponsorship opportunities in return for a donation that would benefit the schools, according to Taryn Atwell, community relations director for Lincoln-Way Community High School District 210.
“Individuals claiming to work for a custom t-shirt and spirit wear company (TD Sports) have sent emails to local Lincoln-Way area businesses claiming to have sponsorship opportunities available through t-shirt and product sales,” Atwell wrote in a district email on Tuesday. “The individuals sending these emails have no association with Lincoln-Way, or with TD Sports—a North Carolina based business.”
