Chase Niemeier, an 11-year-old New Lenox resident who died in 2010, was honored Sunday during a flag football fundraiser with the New Lenox Youth Football Association.

Kids kept busy with activities such as face painting, games, hair feathers and a photo booth. There was a raffle for numerous items donated from many people in the community, T-shirts for sale, popcorn and concessions. There was a football throwing contest sponsored by Athletic Republic in Orland Park, and there was even a dunk tank!
The event was capped off by a very moving and heartfelt balloon release, which was a reminder of what the day was all about: the memory of wonderful athlete, friend, brother and son, Chase Niemeier.
Many thanks to all who have already donated, and those who still wish to, can make donations to the Chase Niemeier Memorial Fund at Old Plank Trail Bank.
