Poster Contest Winners Announced By New Lenox Fire District

The theme for this year's contest was "Not Every Hero Wears a Cape. Plan and Practice Your Escape."

NEW LENOX, IL — During the month of October the New Lenox Fire Protection District held a fire safety message poster contest for all the fifth grade classrooms in New Lenox. The district said the posters were based on the National Fire Prevention Association’s Fire Prevention Week Theme for 2019 which was, “Not Every Hero Wears a Cape. Plan and Practice Your Escape.”

All participating schools submitted their posters by Oct. 11, and the posters were then judged by the New Lenox firefighters and administrative staff.

“We wanted a way to get this age group involved in fire safety, and thought this was one way to do
that,” Marisa Schrieber, the fire protection district’s Fire and Life Safety Educator, said in a release.

“This is the fifth year doing the contest, and we are always amazed at the creativity the students put into their posters,” Schrieber said.
