Providence Student Named National Merit Commended Student
Mike Hu of Frankfort is one of only thousands of students nationally to earn the distinction.

NEW LENOX, IL -- A Providence Catholic High School student is one of about 34,000 nationally selected as a commended student in the 2018 National Merit Scholarship program. Tianqi (Mike) Hu will receive a letter of commendation from Providence Principal Dr. John Harper and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, according to a news release from the school.
Hu, of Frankfort, is a member of the PCHS National Honor Society and an AP scholar who has won numerous awards. He is the captain of the school's Scholastic Bowl and math team and is involved athletically as a member of the cross country and track teams.
Commended Students like Hu are among the top 50,000 scorers of more than 1.6 million students who entered the 2018 competition by taking the 2016 PSAT/NMSQT test.
