Publishers Clearinghouse Prize Nothing But Bait in Wicked Scam: Cops
A New Lenox resident was blinded by the false promise of a sweepstakes prize.

A New Lenox resident was duped into wiring money to grifters holding out the carrot of a Publishers Clearing House sweepstakes prize.
A police officer met with the victimized resident the morning of Oct. 20.
“The officer was dispatched to the police department in reference to a complaint of Fraud,” police said. “The complainant advised that an unknown person contacted them and advised them they had won a prize from Publishers Clearing House. The victim wired money in order to receive the prize. The victim learned that this was a scam.
