Resident Searches for Owner of Parakeet

A resident who found a white parakeet is caring for the feathered friend until it can be reunited with its owner.

The ”little, white parakeet” was found Tuesday in the Liberty Square subdivision near Cedar Road.

“If anyone is looking for their little girl, she’s okay,” said Kathy Caponigro. “I happen to have three other parakeets so she’s been well taken care of.”

The bird was weak when she was first discovered, but she’s on the mend, Caponigro said.

“For the mean time we named her Elsa from ’Frozen,’” she said. “The poor thing could barely hold herself up when she was eating from pure exhaustion. We didn’t think she’d make it through the night but she’s a fighter!”
