Rock Island Station Shopping Center Approved
Work could start soon on a new shopping center that would include a CVS at the corner of U.S. 30 and Cedar Road in New Lenox.

NEW LENOX, IL -- Work could start soon on a long-awaited redevelopment project that will include a new CVS Pharmacy in New Lenox. Village trustees approved a plan to move forward with the Rock Island Station Shopping Center during their final meeting of June, according to a Daily Southtown report.
The shopping center is expected to generate enough sales tax revenue that would result in building a new train station in the adjacent Metra lot.
The shopping center will include two parcels, one with the village’s third CVS and the other with a Fleckenstein's, Durbin's and Zembar Jewelers. The CVS will be where the BP Amoco gas station and Hutchins Cleaners were. The other incoming businesses will go up at the site of the long vacant House of Hughes restaurant property.
