Motorcycle Pursuit Ends Before Arrest At Elwood Man's Home
Will County police had to terminate the pursuit of a man on a motorcycle when the fugitive entered a pedestrian-only path.

MANHATTAN, IL - A man police say was speeding on a motorcycle through rural Will County last week was charged with several offenses after police had to end a pursuit and found him later at his home. Dean A. Kutz Jr., 26, of Elwood was charged with fleeing/eluding the police, reckless driving, improper motorcycle operation, improper lane usage, disobeying a stop sign and aggravated speeding on March 18, according to a report from the Will County Sheriff's Office.
Will County deputies tried to stop Kutz near Gougar and Bruns roads in Manhattan at 5:38 p.m., but Kutz - who police say was clocked driving 94 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone on a Honda Shadow motorcycle - kept going, according to police. He is accused of disregarding a stop sign while south on Gougar and reached the Wauponsee trailhead, where police say he entered a pedestrian only path on his motorcycle.
Authorities terminated the pursuit at that time, but found Kutz at his residence in Elwood shortly after at about 6 p.m. He was described as "apologetic," but taken to Will County lockup at that time.
