Car Crashes Into Manhattan Building For 2nd Time In 2 Months

Residents of a downtown Manhattan building have been evacuated for the second time in two months after another car crash.

MANHATTAN, IL - A downtown Manhattan apartment building has been hit by a car for the second time in as many months. Several streets in the area were closed until 8 p.m. on Sunday after a driver struck the building at 110 W. North St. earlier that day around 1:35 p.m.

Manhattan police and fire units responded to the scene, where the driver was seen by paramedics and released at the scene. The initial call came from the Pizza 4 U business at 130 W. North St.

The car crashed into the support structure outside the building that had been in place since the last time a car crashed into the building on May 3 of this year.

Residents of the building were temporarily evacuated as police began an investigation.

It wasn't immediately clear whether charges are expected.
