Scam Involves Cher, Bears Tickets: New Lenox Police Blotter
The following information was furnished by New Lenox Police officials.

NEW LENOX, IL -The New Lenox Police Department reported the following incidents occurred in the village during the month of December.
December 11:
Police learned that Delaney Duffy, 22, of Southgate Road, had an outstanding Will County Warrant and wished to turn herself in. The officer confirmed the warrant which was for failure to appear on a DUI charge. Duffy posted bond and was released.

December 14:
- Police were dispatched to the AT&T in the 700 block of East Lincoln Highway in reference to a Retail Theft. The officer met with the complainant who advised that a man entered the store and stole a Samsung Galaxy phone from the display counter.
- The complainant who lives on Genoa Drive advised that they discovered three fraudulent checks had been cashed against their checking account. DISPOSITION/BOND: Under review by investigations for assignment or closure.
- Police learned that Tracey Williams III, 19, of Hartford Place, Joliet, had an outstanding Will County Warrant. The officer confirmed the warrant which was for Theft by Deception. Williams posted bond and was released.
- The complainant who lives on Ryan Drive advised that they discovered an unauthorized charge to Apple ITunes on their credit card. The victim attempted to contact Apple to dispute the charge. The victim made phone contact with who they thought was an Apple representative. The representative convinced the victim to purchase a $100 Apple ITunes gift card and provide the representative with the serial numbers from the back of the card to correct the matter. The victim purchased the card, provided the numbers, then realized they were being scammed when the representative requested an additional $500 gift card be purchased.
December 15

Police went to 225 Hickory Street after learning that Steven Matecki, 39, had an outstanding warrant out for his arrest. The officer located Matecki and took him into custody. The warrant was for Theft stemming from a New Lenox Police investigation. Matecki failed to post bond and was transferred to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
December 16
- Police were dispatched to the 200 block of Woodlawn Road in reference to a burglary to motor vehicle. The complainant advised that someone gained entry to their vehicle and stole various items, items including chairs and blankets.
- Police were dispatched to Primrose Street for a Deceptive Practice complaint. The complainant advised that they received an email that they believed was from Apple. The email indicated that the victim needed to update their account and requested personal and bank information from the victim. The victim provided the information before realizing they were being scammed. No fraudulent activity had been discovered at the time of the report.
- Police were dispatched to the 100 block of Woodlawn Road in reference to a Burglary. The complainant advised that someone forced entry to their garage and entered an unlocked vehicle. Nothing appeared to have been taken at the time of the report.
- Police were dispatched to the 2000 block of Edgevie Drive for a deceptive practice complaint. The complainant advised that they purchased tickets to a Bears game from someone for $400 and tickets to a Cher concert for $150. The victim provided payment to the offender using an E-pay service. The victim never received the tickets. The victim Googled the offender’s name and learned that the offender is alleged to have scammed several people out of money for tickets to events. Under review by investigations for assignment or closure.
December 17
An officer was dispatched to Centurion Lane in reference to a verbal disturbance. While investigating the disturbance the officer had contact with Patricia Fields, 54, and learned she had two outstanding warrants out for her arrest. Fields was taken into custody and transported to the NLPD. The warrants were for Failure to Appear out of Will and also Grundy County. Fields failed to post bond and was transferred to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
