Second Fall Prevention Course Offered In New Lenox

The class is designed to reduce the fear of falling and increase activity levels among older adults.

NEW LENOX, IL — After the first class, "A Matter of Balance: Managing Concerns About Falls," offered at the VFW is now full, a second course is now being offered. The fall prevention course is offered for older adults and is held by the New Lenox Safe Communities America Coalition.

The village said the class starts Sept. 17 and runs every Tuesday until Nov. 5 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the New Lenox Public Library (Meeting Room B), 120 Veterans Parkway.

The class is designed to reduce the fear of falling and increase activity levels among older adults, the village said. Participants learn to set realistic goals to increase activity, change their environment to reduce fall risk factors, and learn simple exercises to increase strength and balance.
