Silver Cross Health Connection Physicians Join New BlueCare Direct Plan

Over 400 physicians on staff at Silver Cross Hospital are now part of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois and Advocate Health Care’s new high performing HMO network called BlueCare Direct.

Patients who choose to enroll in the BlueCare Direct health insurance plan will have access to thousands of doctors in the Chicagoland area including those with Silver Cross Health Connection, which is Silver Cross’ Physician Hospital Organization (PHO).

BlueCare Direct is Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois lowest-cost HMO that offers low monthly-premiums and low out-of-pocket costs.

BlueCare Direct provides patients with no-referral access to over 4,000 of Advocate’s primary care and specialty physicians and approximately 400 physicians who practice with (Advocate-affiliated) Silver Cross Hospital.

“Through Silver Cross’ affiliation with Advocate Physician Partners, beginning on Jan. 1, we will be able to care for patients at Silver Cross Hospital who have this new BlueCare Direct insurance plan,” said Dr. Dave Mikolajczak, president of Silver Cross Health Connection. “Area residents not only have increased access to more primary and specialty physicians, but will also benefit from the greater coordination of care and improved outcomes as a result of this new health plan.”
