Silver Cross Healthy Community Commission Awards Grants

Since 2008, the Silver Cross Healthy Community Commission has provided more than $2.5 million in scholarships and grants.

The Silver Cross Healthy Community Commission has been very busy the last few months, awarding $45,836 in grants to four community organizations in the areas of education and workforce development.

The Commission allocated $15,000 for educational programs and scholarships to the National Hook-Up of Black Women, $7,000 for scholarships to the Joliet Area Coalition of Black Trade Unionists organization, $10,000 for scholarships to the Community Service Council of Will County, and $13,836 to Redeemed Connection Ministries for their job preparation and summer jobs program.

“Silver Cross Healthy Community Commission remains committed to improving the lives of the residents of Joliet,” said Margie Woods, Chair of the Silver Cross Healthy Community Commission. “We are proud to work with each organization to increase access to education, employment, and quality-of-life programs.”
