Silver Cross Hospital Gives First Vaccines To Employees

The hospital gave 120 vaccines in a little over two hours on Wednesday.

NEW LENOX, IL — Silver Cross Hospital received its first doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine on Wednesday. The hospital gave 120 vaccines in a little over two hours, Director of Marketing and Community Relations Debra Robbins told Patch.

Hilary Robinson, a registered nurse who has been treated coronavirus patients since the beginning of the pandemic was among the first to receive the vaccine at Silver Cross.

“This is history being made today. It gives me hope," she said.

Chief Nursing Officer Michael Mutterer and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Chris Udovich also received their first dose of the vaccine on Wednesday.

“This vaccine is a game-changer and represents hope in the fight against COVID-19," Mutterer said.

“The arrival of the vaccine is huge! But getting back to normal is going to require action on all fronts, including vaccination, wearing a mask, social distancing and handwashing. We have to continue to be vigilant," Dr. Udovich said.

The hospital will continue giving this round of vaccines through Saturday.
