Silver Cross Hospital Names New CEO

Ruth Colby has been selected to replace longtime President and CEO Paul Pawlak.

NEW LENOX, IL - Ruth A. Colby has been selected as the next president and CEO of Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox. Colby has already served in a role as chief strategy officer at Silver Cross and will replace current President and CEO Paul Pawlak when he retires on Oct. 1, the hospital announced this week.

“I am honored to have been selected and I thank the Board of Directors for their endorsement of and confidence in me,” said Colby. “We have an extremely strong foundation thanks to Paul, our board, and our extraordinary employees, physicians and volunteers. I look forward to continuing to advance these strengths and ensure Silver Cross remains a treasured asset to our community and to the patients we are privileged to serve.”

In addition to her time at Silver Cross, Colby has held leadership positions at the University of Chicago Medicine and Solucient, which is now Truven Health Analytics.

“Ruth was selected because of her successful leadership track record at Silver Cross in combination with her proven strategic abilities that have been instrumental in effectively positioning the hospital for growth in a fast changing healthcare market,” said Douglas Hutchinson Jr., chairman of the Silver Cross board of directors.

Pawlak announced last year that he will retire on Sept. 30 after 27 years in the role of president and CEO. He is the longest serving CEO in the hospital’s history.
