Sports Photo Gallery: The Men of New Lenox Softball

If it's Tuesday night and it's after work, that can mean only one thing. It's time for a game of softball. And not just any game. These men play for local bragging rights.

On a Tuesday night in a park off of Cedar Road lies a dusty softball field. Teams of men, often arriving straight from work, take their teams and nicknames lightly. Make no mistake, this game is serious business.

Drives fly off bats. And men dive to make the big catch; it's no place for the faint of heart. The umpires are loud and gruff and testosterone fills the air with every great play and also with the occasional gaffe. Though few are there to witness these events, blood, sweat and swears are evidence of history in the making. Bragging rights are everything.

After all is said in done in that one-hour game, hands shake and the men go back to their every day lives. A little bruised in body or perhaps ego, they kiss their wives or go and enjoy their favorite watering-hole and all is right. Well, until they meet again on that dusty field ...
